WQ-04. First story/character.

30 Days Of Writing Questions 04. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!

Once upon a time there was a girl in primary school, who had to write a fairy tale for homework. But instead of inventing her own story, she simply took the best of her favorite fairy tales, mixed it up and created this way a new one.

Yeah, that girl was me! You might call me a smart girl, because I hadn't used parts of the 'common' fairy tales. These days, on every special event I got a book from my neighbor, she worked at a publishing house, with fairy tales from another countries. So, I used a imprisoned maiden here and a young hero on his adventurous journey there, mixed it up with some fantastic creatures and magical tokens, and finally some heavy obstacles, where the hero had to use the tokens. Of course, not to forget the end with 'They lived happily ever after'. And voila, we have one of the first stories I remember.

One of my first characters was a cat prince. There was that illustration of a ball, neatly dressed cat couples dancing while the prince was sitting on his throne overlooking everything. But I guess, even he was inspired by 'Puss in Boots'.

FJC, Day-09: I Am... A-Z.

The only rule: DO ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WANT WITH IT. You can do an art journal page, drawing, writing, doodling, poetry, fiction, whatever you want. And here's the prompt of the day:

Use adjectives to alphabetize yourself....i.e. A = angry, B = bold, C = cute etc. Don't feel shy about using good, powerful adjectives or bad ones. This is about acknowledging who you think you are.

Well, that was harder than expected. In the end I used my German-English dictionary as help!

I'm always surprised by my space management ... how everything perfectly suits exactly on those two pages!

Wreck This Journal: Collect Fruit Stickers Here.

Yippie! I'm done! No more fruit stickers! :-)

Some of the stickers I just picked up off the fruits ... like sweet melons (I don't like them and I've never noticed that there are so many sorts of melon available!) or pineapple (I'm allergic!).

Additional note: It's been a while since I'd finished that page, but still my eyes run over the stickers in the fruit department! *g*

FJC, Day-08: Dream House Or A House Of Dreams.

And here's my outcome:

I've designed my Dream House before. I have a perfect image in my head, how the house lays harmonically in its environment and in the inside how every room looks. The wonderful thing, I already have little bits and pieces in my current apartment, and with every new furniture, every new decoration I come a little closer to my model.

With A House Of Dreams I associate myself, my beliefs, my thoughts and my dreams. I am the cover, including a lot of rooms and each gives shelter to a part of my conscious and unconscious personality. There are pompous halls and unsophisticated chambers, but also trap doors, secret passages, a dungeon and a treasury, as well as the bestiary. This House Of Dreams is constantly changing.

One-Minute-Writer: 2011-05

Monday, January-31: Extreme. Write about something some people think is fun, but you think is extreme/crazy.
A lot of people consider those TV shows, like 'Big Brother', 'DSDS' (German version of 'American Idol') or 'Jungle Camp' as fun, but in my opinion it just crazy, in the sense of nuts.

Tuesday, February-01: Early. Write about the last time you had to wake up extra-early. Why did you get up early? Was it worth it?
Ah, every day I have to wake up by the alarm clock, is extra-early for me! *lol* Okay, seriously now, the last time I had to wake up extra-early was to catch a plane for my holidays. Yeah, that's worth all the lack of sleep and grumbling in the morning, don't you think so, too?

Wednesday, February-02: Storm. Write about a storm that affected you in some way.
There's only one storm, that comes into my mind. A few years ago a devastating inner hurricane made all my emotional life go to pieces. It needed quite some time and a lot of effort to rebuild everything and come back to normal.

EDIT: Yeah, Bull's Eye! Another win! *yippie*

Thursday, February-03: Too much. What is a good thing you can't have too much of?
Books. I wished I had a huuuge library for my own. You could go to all those magical places and meet wonderful people, experience the biggest adventures without leaving your home. What do you need more? (As long as there's no sponsor for my world trip! *g*)

Friday, February-04: Mouse. Write a brief bit of fiction using the prompt "Mouse".
As devoted 'Can Opener' I should know better, but those little kitties in catalogues playing joyfully with their toys are just sooo cute. So, the last time ordering, two little toy mice wandered into the shopping chart. They had a little bell inside, for sure I would regret it one day at 4 o'clock in the morning, when my two little monsters do their morning exercises. But I simply couldn't resist, one mouse had a cutie-cute zebra fur, the other one a leopard fur.
A few days later, my packets arrived, and my two little predators waited full of expectations by my feet. Perfect! Tense attention while unwrapping, a glittering glaze at the first rattle, twitching tail and heavy panting at the first throw of the mice und then ... NOTHING!!! Only a short sniff and that's all?? Obviously!
You'll never guess, what really caught my little fur monsters' interest? The cat owners among you already know, right? Not the toy mouse, not! The carton box!!! I should have know that!

Saturday, February-05: Letdown. Write about a movie you watched, book you read, or activity you tried that ended up being a letdown.
In 1993 the advertising and merchandising industry was running hot because of the new movie by Stephen Spielberg. So amazing! Great special effects on the big screen! Never seen before! Those made my expectations so immensely high, that in the end I was disappointed - that's just dinosaurs, nothing world shaking special!

Sunday, February-06: Sunday. Write a brief poem about Sunday. (Or, if you prefer, write about ice cream sundaes.)

I wrote a 'love letter', a letter where you share your emotions. I decided to write to myself, which is very personal. You might understand, why I had to blur out the complete writing. But I'd like to share my pattern for the letter with you:

Dear ...,

I wrote you this letter in order to share my emotions with you.

Anger: I think, it's not good, that... I'm frustrated, because... I'm furious, because... I'm angry, because... I want...

Sorrow: I'm disappointed, because... I'm sad, because... I feel hurt, because... I would... I want...

Fear: I'm worried, because... I fear, that... I dread, that... I don't want... I need... I want...

Repentance: It's embarrassing for me, that... I'm sorry, that... I feel ashamed, because... I didn't want... I want...

Love: I love... I would like to... I understand, that... I forgive... I'm looking forward to... Thank you... I know...
