Do people really know, that they share knowledge? Or are those things leaving their mouth just plain data or simple information? What about gaining new knowledge? To leave your secure home waters and enter new territories? Maybe you don't like it there, but at least accept and maybe even understand it! Maybe you get unexpected new ideas, fresh inspiration or instructive discoveries. Who knows? Always thinking the same thoughts can impossibly lead you to something new, right? And what about networking? We call ourselves to live in a networking world? Are you able to combine old and new knowledge? Can you really do that?

FJC, Day-27: Story Spinner.

And here's my outcome:

My second thought on that prompt was, that I would like to skip it ... I considered it too similar to 'Once Upon A Time.' A short feedback from my challenge partner Dolly had changed my mind, because in her answer I'd found the inspiration to took those two words literally!

I designed my own Story Spinner. It has four categories, that every story could have:

1. Hero (Prince, girl, cat, alien, vampire, robot, thief, elf)
2. Place (A far country, under water, outer space, island, castle, virtual reality, in the sky, at home)
3. Opponent (Dragon, knight, thief, robot, wolf, wizard, bookkeeper, worm)
4. Magical object (book, feather, remote control, key, strands of hair, coin, shoe, treasure map)

By spinning you can always receive completely new combinations and completely new stories - hopefully! Well, now I'm stranded with a hero, who is a thief and has to fight against a bookkeeper in the sky, and his only help is a remote control! Good luck with that!

FJC, Day-26: On A Dark And Stormy Night.

On a dark and stormy night... The beginning might be a cliché, but the rest doesn't have to be.

And here's my outcome:

First of all, this isn't my window and these aren't my curtains, but behind, that WAS a true sky outside of my living room window!

I wasn't in the mood of writing another fairy tale or a scary story to be told in front of a campfire. Unfortunately I don't have to tell a classical 'On a dark and stormy night' story with a personal touch ... at least no one that hadn't to be rated! Instead I wrote about a very personal dark and stormy time, that's why I used the blurs.

Friday-Fill-In: 2011-08

1. Ooooh, I love these sunny days, give you at least a little taste of the upcoming summer.
2. Hypocrisy, I can't stand it!
3. How the heck did I end up with so many words in my current writing project and I'm not even finished yet! Who had expected that?
4. India is one of my favorite places to visit.
5. I'm not a hypocrite, I'm not!
6. It's a burger recipe by Rachel Ray I want to try that weekend, it has to be good.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to accompany some Jedi knights in 'Star Wars, Episode 1' on TV, tomorrow my plans include maybe, if the weather is nice, to wash and clean my car and Sunday, I want to finish the last pages for our 'February Journaling Challenge'!

What Road are you on? Would you rather be on another? Do you even know that you are on a road?

Is it really just about roads? Or is it more about the bikes (or cars) we ride on them? What about the feelings and the memories we connect with them? Something from our younger self, something like freedom, promise and adrenaline? The journey is the destination ... and the roads lead us!

WQ-06. Writing Habits.

30 Days Of Writing Questions 06. Where are you most comfortable writing? At what time of day? Computer or good old pen and paper?

Well, it all depends on what I'm writing.

On the one side there is my novel writing, which I do exclusively on the computer. I can type 10-finger-blind, which allows me to have my eyes on the screen, to write, reread and think at the same time. When I feel the need to an urgent research I have an instant access to the internet or else I can leave a virtual note in the text. Not to forget the advantage of spell verification and later editing. I even won't image to rewrite everything all over again, like in the historic times with pen and paper or good old type writer. Nostalgic? Yes! Convenient? Definitively No!
That's a picture of my little working corner in my living room. The desk is hand made by my grandfather. As you can see, I still have a monster of a monitor, but as long as the screen works fine for my eyes, there's no need for replacement! Maybe that's my personal way of 'Nostalgia'!

On the other side there is my dream diary, which is very personal for me. Therefore I use a more personal way of writing. I need the contact to paper in wonderful journals and a good, heavy writing pen in my hand. The pen I use was a present from my Mum. Writing in a real book allows me to illustrate or add some collectibles or tokens or whatever. I also want to have the possibility to keep my diary save in a drawer or take it with me, when I want to write somewhere else.

As you might have drawn the right conclusions, I use to write at home. Either on my computer for the novels or preferably on the couch for my dream diary. As I'm an owl I like to write on late evening hours or during the night.
